Attention.

It has recently come to my attention that Zicam, a cold remedy, is undergoing a massive recall. Apparently its been causing people to lose their senses of smell. I thought I'd give everyone on here a heads up and let them know:

DON'T USE ZICAM!
http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=Zicam&sa=N&tab=wn&um=1

Be still foolish heart.

I went to my brother's graduation yesterday, and I met his girlfriend D's half-brother, who is just about the handsomest damn guy on the planet.

And he's single.

And he's going to school on the same campus as me.

And now I can't get him out of my head. I mean, I feel like a schoolgirl with butterflies in my stomach.

I messaged D. on Facebook about her giving me his e-mail. He didn't seem to be flirtatious towards me, but he was polite enough and chuckled at my jokes and stuff. His name is Rob.

I just hope I don't get crushed again.

Eek.

Proposed Mastectomy Law Change

(written by a surgeon);

I'll never forget the look in my patients eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies.

So there I sat with my patient giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank you' they muttered.

A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make this an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.

This Mastectomy Bill is in Congress now. It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it really quick! The Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill is important legislation for all women.

Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times. If you're receiving this, it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to go to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same.

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through mastectomy' where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes withdrainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support.. Last year over half the House signed on. Please sign the petition below . You need not give more than your name and zip code number.

http://www.mylifetime.com/my-lifetim...ancer-petition

http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/mastectomy.asp

Anybody reading this, please pass it along.

Honest to fucking God!

Just finished a minor argument with my Dad. How many fucking times do I have to tell him that I'm really too tired to go over my finances tonight? Yes I've used being tired as an excuse not to do shit in the past, but fucking hell, I haven't in a long time. Then even after I explain that I'll be happy to go over it in the morning, he still says go print out your credit card bill so we can go over it. WHAT DID I JUST FUCKING SAY TO YOU, YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE?!

I'M TIRED!

I'M TIRED!

I'M TIRED!

I'M TIRED!

I'M TIRED!

I'M TIRED!

I"M! FUCKING! TIRED!

JESUS FUCK!

Honestly, its like no matter what I do to prove myself, I'm still an irresponsible little dipshit teenager to them. I'm 27 fucking years old now, fuckwad! I'm taking graduate courses! I pulled an A in master's level course! I'm holding down a steady job! I'm paying my bills on time! I'm keeping my room clean and organized! I'm making my own doctor's appointments! I'm taking care of your crippled ass when Mom isn't around! I'm moving out of this dump in the fall! WHAT MORE DO YOU FUCKING WANT FROM ME?! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO EARN SOME FUCKIN RESPECT AROUND HERE?!

What do I have to do to be treated with some sembalence of respect? Its like I'm expected to do everything an adult does without being treated like one. Fuck this shit. Shit, he may have even had a point on my finances, but I'd prefer to make the damn mistake and learn the hard way rather than have him breathing down my neck my entire life.

I can't wait to move out of here. Finally be on my own, even if it is in a tiny fucking room in a grad dorm. Nobody lecturing me with the same shit I've heard ten thousand times. And no more being a butler monkey to a cripple.

I donate blood. I donate my hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. I try to donate money to charity at least once a year. I do my click-a-day websites on www.oneclickatatime.org (its free, for those of you reading.) I use the websites www.jogogreen.com and www.freerice.com which plant trees and donate food, respectively, all free. I do Lil' Green Patch and the other charity applications on Facebook. I also intend to register for the Bone Marrow Registry when I get around to it.

I'm also studying indigenous rights at the moment. Hopefully I can use my education to help people, which is my ultimate goal.

Obama is president.

The Bush era is finally over. I feel like I've woken up from a nightmare to find myself warm and safe in my own bed. Paul came over, he got teary-eyed during Obama's speech. We hugged and he lifted me off the ground.

Even if Obama doesn't live up the half the hype about him, its still a major improvement and cause for celebration. He could spend the next four years ripping the heads off of kittens during press conferences and he'll still look like fucking FDR compared to Bush. Imagine, I'll be able to watch the president speak without wanting to take a power drill to my head to relieve the pressure on my brain from it all. Things can only get better from here.

Random Thought

I just realized that there is a quote from a movie that can basically sum up one of the axioms of my worldview:

(Morgan Freeman, voiceover)

"Ernest Hemmingway once wrote, The world is a great place, and worth fighting for. I agree with the second part."

I wish it wasn't so platitudinous.

I work retail part-time, and I can't wear open toed shoes for fear of something falling on my foot. Jeans are out too, as are tube tops and shorts. I may be a cashier but I do need to look semi-professional.
The Green Party is actually closest to my personal political beliefs, but sadly third parties are not really viable in the United States on any meaningful level, so I must settle for the Democratic Party.

Church and state are like ketchup and chocolate sauce. They're great when separated, but if you mix them up you get something that's absolutely horrendous.

A RIGHT, DAMMIT!

That being said, I'm not sure that a national health care system in the United States is a good idea. I think it would be more efficient to have it run at a state level, but that's just my opinion.
